Novacool UEF fire extinguishing foam replaces aqueous film-forming foams and ozone-depleting halon gases that release both toxic hydrofluoric acid & fluorocarbons into the environment during use. It is effective at approximately one-seventh the concentration of conventional fire fighting chemicals. The selective employment of rapidly biodegradable substances dramatically enhances the effectiveness of simple water and eliminates the environmental & toxic impact of other traditional fire extinguishment agents. It is a mixture of anionic, nonionic, and amphoteric surfactants that works in three ways to extinguish fire. It reduces the surface tension of water to improve the penetrating ability of water. It vastly improves the heat transfer from the fuel into water; and reduces fuel vapor pressure by emulsifying class B materials at the fuel surface. It works by combining with water and reducing the surface tension of water, which allows the water to develop a high surface area. This high surface area allows for a very rapid and efficient heat transfer from the object to the water. This transfer results in quick extinguishment and rapid cooling. The cooling helps to prevent fire re-ignition.
